This November Carlisle will play host to the very first citywide Open Studios initiative where artists, craftspeople and creative practitioners alike will open their doors to the public; inviting you in to view the work, talk about the ideas, maybe learn a few processes and see working Studios in operation.
The day is happening in correlation with Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery’s latest 'Sedition - an uprising of Contemporary Artists’ Exhibition, resulting in Carlisle based artists collaborating to organise this one day city-wide event, which is scheduled to take place on Sat 20th November between the 10am – 4pm.
The overarching intention of the day aims to encourage both local and wider audience to Carlisle to experience a whole day’s worth of activity which demonstrates the wealth of creative Practice emanating from here in the locality, and over 32 practitioners are to be involved in the Studio activity positioned across a range of 5 different city locations - with works ranging from writers to visual artists, applied artists to printmakers etc.
The event is being coordinated by West Walls Studios and is planned to coincide not only with Sedition but also with Matrix Arts Projects evening of Live Art, programmed for Sat 20th at 8pm at the Source Cafe Denton Holme Carlisle where Matrix aim to present both Regional, National and International Performance Artists in happening.
Offering a wealth of wide-ranging contemporary practices the day will demonstrate an array of differing art forms and media: celebrating the diverse talents of practitioners from here in this region, from both emerging and internationally recognised individuals.
